Race For The Cure

Race for the Cure was on Saturday and we raced in memory of Mawmaw just like last year. I had a hat made for the race, but unfortunately it didn't get ready on time. On the back of it, everyone in my life affected by breast cancer was stitched on it. Since I didn't have it on time, I want to recognize these brave ladies.
Mawmaw (we miss you everyday!)
Kathy Harbin (survivor)
Susan Yates (survivor)
Sally Moore (my great aunt- you will be missed!)
Jeanine Walls (survivor)

Also, all three of these survivors participated in the race on Saturday- how awesome!
Here are some photos of the great day we had. There were an estimated 20,000 people walking for this cause- let's pray we find a cure soon!

Fill in the Blank Friday

I'm beginning a series in my blog that is entitled Fill In The Blank Friday. It's pretty self-explanatory really, but here goes me first one.

1. The first thing I do in the morning to start my day is let Maddie and Carsyn outside, shower, get dressed.

2. Today I wish I was at home finishing up some craft projects and cleaning up a little.

3. If I had an extra $100 in my bank account today I'd pay off a bill!

4. Tomorrow Evan and I will be running with his family in the Race For The Cure, then over to our in-laws for a AL football party!

5. Two things that don't go together are Jalapeno Cheese Bagel and Vanilla Caramel coffee: just found that one out the hard way!

6. Something I can never pass up at the grocery store is chips and salsa. Always on the grocery list!

7. The last time I tried something new was making a homemade candy machine Wednesday night!

Until next Friday...

Shinedown.

Last Friday we went with Megan, Joel, my brother, and Kelsi to see Shinedown. It was an acoustic set so it was really different to hear them so "quiet" but we had a blast. This show was also a benefit for the Bell Center so it was for a great cause! I'm going to have a talk with the dude doing the lights, because they were not camera friendly. These were the only sad little pictures I was able to get that weren't pitch black or extremely blurry.

Also, the husband managed to snag this for me.

The back is hilarious. If you can't read it, it says, "You couldn't get the chicks off me with a chainsaw." haha.

Meet Esmeralda & Co.

A while back, Nana Faye got me this witch to decorate with for Halloween:

When Christmas is here, we all have elves that visit Kyleigh when she comes to stay with us. Ronee has some, Nana Faye, and last year, Romeo & Juliet came to my house for Christmas. Well, I thought it would be fun to have a "Halloween elf" at my house, so I thought this witch was perfect. I named her Esmeralda and showed her to Kyleigh. Esmeralda has a switch that when you turn it on, she will randomly laugh and her eyes will light up red. I told Kyleigh she couldn't make her mad or eyes would turn red. Esmeralda also had an umbrella under her dress that makes her dress poof out. Kyleigh also asked me how she was supposed to fly if she didn't have any legs. (I couldn't come up with anything.) Well later in the night Esmeralda would laugh and her eyes would light up randomly. I have yet to figure out if she is voice or motion activated, and her randomness alarms me. Quite frankly, it freaks me out a little. Anyway Kyleigh is amazed by Esmeralda and her magic. So much so, that Esmeralda had some friends stop by the other day:

Meet Charley and Marley. (named by Kyleigh)
This Halloween should be full of fun with these three around!

This is Halloween, This is Halloween!

I heart Halloween. It's so much fun! But, let me clarify: I don't like blood and guts and rats and mummies. I like fun and whimsical. I am a little bit of a skull addict, so this is my only time I get to display them and not be considered odd. Here's what's been going on in my house lately:

Sweet Babies.

Two stories about some special little people:
Kyleigh wrote this on the chalkboard at Tannehill. She claims it said "Christy is a sweet person." Whether it did or not wasn't the point, but it melted my heart all the same!

With a name like Christy I sort of expected to be last on the list of Kole learning names. Well he finally said it the other day and it sounded a little like GeeGee. I'll take anything! Yesterday when I pulled up, he was pointing at me saying my name and when I got out he ran to me and hugged me and said it again! Yesterday's pronunciation was "Kisskee". So "Kisskee" or "GeeGee", I'm so excited he's able to remember it- sweet boy!

Wedding Bells

Jason & Heather's wedding was on September 18th and everything was beautiful. Evan was the best man and he looked pretty handsome himself! Kyleigh was the flower girl too and was gorgeous as ever. Here are some pics from their special day:
